 Happy New Year!!!!
First, I would like to thank everyone for my wonderfully thoughtful and generous Christmas gifts. I enjoyed eating cookies, going out for coffee, and even going out to dinner at my favorite restaurant over break. Thank you all so much for your kindness.

Now that our that vacation is over we are going to jump right in to some serious work! This week we will begin our mid-year literacy assessments, just to check on our progress. This month we will also finish up our non-fiction writing unit and begin persuasive writing and in math we will begin telling time. Finally in Social Studies, next week we will begin our journey to China.  This month we will be very busy!

Reminder: The playground is COLD! It becomes a wind tunnel through the buildings, so it feels much colder than any other place in Cape. So, please remember to make sure that your child is dressed very warmly for recess. We stay in only if it is below 10 degrees, and 12 degrees is still very cold. Thank you!

I have one more item to note, next week I will be out for at least Monday and Tuesday for jury duty. I am not sure at this point what other days I will miss but I will let you know. I really hate to miss school, but I will make sure that my substitute is well prepared.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me at mharrington@capeelizabethschools.org or call me on my cell # 939-4880 or school voicemail at 799-7339.

Have a great week!!!!
